A magnitude 3.5 earthquake was felt from the Southern California coast to the desert and throughout Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley on Friday morning.
The quake, at 5:42 a.m., was centered along Interstate 5 just north of Castaic, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
In the half-hour after the quake, more than 450 people reported it at the USGS Did You Feel It? website. Most of those within 20 miles — in communities including Valencia, Santa Clarita and Simi Valley — described the shaking as weak.
