BTS will reveal an exclusive preview of the song "ON" from the new album Map of the Soul: 7 on TikTok this Friday, 12 hours ahead of the album's official release that day.

The band will unveil a 30-second preview video of the title track on TikTok at 6 a.m. (Korean Standard Time) on February 21 before the full album is released at 6 p.m. (KST) that day, Allkpop reports.

The latest move by BTS is reportedly the first time the K-pop act has revealed a new track on a video-sharing SNS (social network service) platform, according to The Korea Herald.

TikTok has been gaining traction as a breakout platform for unknown artists. Back in 2018 it was the world's most downloaded iOS app, surpassing Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

"TikTok's unique promotional method which allows artists and consumers to communicate while promoting their content to one another, breaking away from the typical methods of promotion, is currently creating a hot sensation," a spokesperson for TikTok told Allkpop.

Anticipation for the new BTS album has been soaring for months. The band has been drip-feeding fans with several teasers in the past few weeks, including various album concept images.

Some images channel vampire vibes, with the group wearing all-black outfits and giant wings in a dark cave-like enclosure, while others have the feel of Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper, with the group sitting at a long table spread with fruits and vegetables and holding vintage-style cups.

Earlier this week, the group unveiled the full track list for the forthcoming album, which included a collaboration with Australian singer Sia for "ON."

BTS had a busy start to the year, appearing on various American television programs following a performance at The Grammy Awards last month, which saw them become the first Korean act to perform at the historic awards show.

Last month, BTS also appeared on James Corden's The Late Late Show and dropped by the iHeartRadio studio for a live Q&A session where they revealed some of their dream collaborations, including Post Malone and Brad Pitt.

Later this month, the band will appear on a special episode of The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, where they will be seen riding the subway on a tour of New York City and performing at Grand Central Terminal.

The North American leg of the new BTS Map of the Soul concert tour begins on April 25 in Santa Clara, California and includes 15 selected in various cities through June 6, when the leg concludes in Chicago.
