Woohoo friends! It's the day after Memorial Day which means...it's almost summer!!
Insert me doing a happy dance here!
And here.
And some more here.
After today, my kiddos only have two more days of school left and then...we hit summer HARD.
Lazy days, pool days, fun days, happy days, summer days.
I'm just so excited. I know I've said this before...but I'll say it again. I used to dislike summer.
Insert my shame and embarrassment here.
Before, I worked in an office all summer long and the days just dragged on. And then I had babies and unless I was in the pool with my two babies, it just wasn't fun being outside (because we live in Texas and it gets HOT here). But then my babies turned into big kids and all of a sudden, summer was a BLAST. It was a sweet relief from the rest of the year. A time for relaxing and putting our normal routine on hold. It became something so much more special when my kids got a little older. Now, instead of dreading summer (which I spent a large part of my life doing), I look forward to it.
I. love. summer.
For the last three years in a row, I've sat down with my kids and together we've created our summer fun list. Most days are spent by the pool, but some days, we need a little change up...so we make a list and tape it up. It's always so much fun to check ideas off of this list!
This year, Smith really took charge of our list. The girls threw out suggestions, but Smith wanted to be the one who actually wrote our little list. So, here you go...the Shull Summer of Fun 2016 list (and psssst, click on the dates to see 2015 and 2014 lists).
We got down to business at our craft table. Construction paper and markers are a must for any good list :).
The Shull men are known for being particular about details. If you know any Shull men, then you know this to be true ;).
We would all suggest things, but for some reason, Smith was the authority of whether it went on our list or not. The girls didn't seem to mind, and since Smith lives in a girl world, I was happy he had something to take charge of,
So, here is our list written by Smith. I didn't want to help/correct him in any way...so let me translate just a little:
1. Lazy Day (where we basically do nothing all day)
2. Go to the library
3. Go to Hawaiian Falls (a local water park)
4. P-M stands for Perot Museum
5. Picnic at dad's office
6. Go get ice cream
7. Dallas Aquarium
8. Camp (in our backyard)
9. Have game day at home
10. Pizza day
11. Make homemade popsicles
12. Swim all day (they were specific...from morning until bedtime)
13. PJ day
14. Go to the mall
15. Go to the movies
16. Bike to the park
17. Go on a hike
18. Go eat hibachi
Ha! A fun little list for the Shull family :).
Ashby made a list too. She basically told me it says "play at Bowen's house" over and over again. #goals
I know that a lot of you make summer bucket lists too. I would love some more suggestions! It's always nice to throw in some new ideas/old ideas/fun ideas/ free ideas/ special ideas and such. Please, please, please feel free to comment and share your favorite summer bucket list suggestions.
And...make sure you're back tomorrow because along with my May Book Review...I'm hosting a giveaway that YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS. So all of you non-readers, still come back tomorrow or else you'll be sad you didn't.
